SCOTTISCH WEEKEND 2023 & the DARK SCOTSMAN

SCHOTS WEEKEND - 36STE EDITIE. In 1986 organiseerden enkele enthousiastelingen voor het eerst een ééndaagse pipe band competitie in Bokrijk, Genk. Het was een groot success dankzij de inzet, passie en overtuigingskracht van de oprichters. Sinds 1994 is de Landcommanderij Alden Biesen in Bilzen de nieuwe & prachtige locatie voor dit uniek evenement. Al snel breidde de organisatie de ééndaagse competitie uit met een solo competitie, Highland Games en Highland Dancing verdeeld over twee volle dagen. Hiermee werd in 1989 het Schots Weekend geboren! Het programma groeide over de jaren heen met folk optredens, de Schotse markt, (kinder-)animatie en veel meer. Het Schots Weekend heeft ondertussen een mooie reputatie opgebouwd zowel in Belgie als in Europa tot een sfeervol festival en bovendien gezinsvriendelijk. In 2007 werd besloten om de vrijdagavond aan het festival weekend toe te voegen zodat bezoekers 3 dagen kunnen genieten van de Keltische sfeer en cultuur. Ideaal voor jong en oud. In 2003 werd bovendien de organisatie van het European Pipe Band Championship toegekend, een erkenning van de Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association (RSPBA). Toch om fier op te zijn als Limburgers!
 
Bovendien zal je tijdens het weekend kunnen genieten van de "DARK SCOTSMAN" (Sweet Milk Stout - alc 7.0% vol) , een nieuw bier van Microbrouwerij De Rechter uit Hasselt, speciaal gebrouwen voor het 36ste Schots Weekend! Een must try!

SCOTTISH WEEKEND - 36TH EDITION. In 1986, a few enthusiasts organised for the first time a one-day pipe band competition in Bokrijk, Genk. It was a great success thanks to the commitment, passion and persuasiveness of the founders. Since 1994, the Grand Commandery Alden Biesen in Bilzen has been the new & beautiful location for this unique event. The organisation soon expanded the one-day competition with a solo competition, Highland Games and Highland Dancing spread over two full days. With this, the Scottish Weekend was born in 1989! The programme has grown over the years with folk performances, the Scottish market, (children's) animation and much more. In the meantime, the Scottish Weekend has built up a great reputation both in Belgium and in Europe as an attractive festival that is also family-friendly. In 2007 it was decided to add Friday evening to the festival weekend so that visitors can enjoy the Celtic atmosphere and culture for 3 days. Ideal for young and old. In 2003, the organisation of the European Pipe Band Championship was also awarded, a recognition of the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association (RSPBA). To be proud of as Limburgers!

Moreover, during the weekend you will be able to enjoy the "DARK SCOTSMAN" (Sweet Milk Stout - alc 7.0% vol), a new beer by Microbrouwerij De Rechter from Hasselt, specially brewed for the 36th Scottish Weekend! A must-try!
